In this post I’m going to be helping you plan the best beach vacation by exploring the best beaches in the US. The US is huge. And it’s got a LOT of different beaches to offer, depending on what you’re after. So here it goes with the best beach vacations you can take in the US. 

 

I’m a beach girl. Whether that means sun bathing at a beach in Hawaii or taking a cold dip in the Atlantic, I love the ocean. That’s what has inspired me to share with you the best beach vacations in the US. 

 

I know that we all want to travel this year. But let’s face it, international travel is by no means going to be easy… (Or cheap!) But that doesn’t mean we can’t still travel this year. After all, we’ve got the whole US to explore! And more importantly we’ve got plenty of US beach vacations to go on. 

 

So today I’m sharing with you the best destinations for a beach vacation, right here in the US. Ready? Let’s go!

Clearwater Beach in Florida

Often known as one of the most gorgeous and iconic beaches in the US! That’s why I’ve added Clearwater Beach in Florida to the top of the list of the best beaches in the US. This is a must visit for your next trip. Whether you’re looking for a weekend away with the girls or a romantic getaway, you can’t go wrong at this lovely beach.

Hanauma Bay, Honolulu, Hawaii

This incredible (and popular) destination in Hawaii is perfect for sandy beaches and snorkeling! In fact, there are over 400 species of marine life that live in this bay alone, including sea turtles and dolphins. Just make sure to book your accommodation well in advance because it is a popular beach vacation.

La Jolla Cove, California 

Love seals? Then La Jolla is completely for YOU! You will love this secluded beach which is home to wild seals. You must have a visit to La Jolla while you’re road tripping or exploring California. I recommend visiting early in the morning. On hot afternoon days this small beach gets crowded. Luckily you’re in California so there’s no shortage of beaches for you to explore!

Cannon Beach, Oregon

The first time I visited Cannon Beach I took the bus from Portland. It was a freezing cold January day and I had almost the entire beach to myself. It was incredible. Since then this beach has been ‘discovered’ in a sense, but I find that there are still times you can feel like you’re the only one there. It’s one of my favorite beaches in all of America.

North and South Padre Island, Texas

Ready to see two beaches, on the same island, that could NOT be more different? Allow me to introduce you to both North and South Padre Island beaches. South Padre island is known for its parties. It’s a top Spring Break destination in the US and it’s home to one the biggest bars in Texas. Crazy right?

 

Then you head around to North Padre island to find a beach that is quiet, focused on natural reservation and GORGEOUS. I mean, both beaches are stunning but they couldn’t be more different. No matter what kind of beach vacation you want, you’ll find it on Padre Island. 

Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach, Maui, Hawaii

It doesn’t get much better than Hawaii for the best beach vacations in the US does it? I mean Hawaii has it all. Great food, island vibes and black sand beaches! This is a must-visit. I mean it, book your flights today. Once you’re there you’ll even find some caves and burial grounds to explore.

Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Did you know that Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island is consistently voted one of the most romantic places in the entire US? This beach is stunning. And littered with ancient driftwood (hence the name!). This year round beach is also pet friendly so you can take your love, and your husband 🤣.

Maine probably isn’t the first place you think of when I say “best beach vacations in the USA”. Am I right? Laguna Beach, California

If you’re looking for more beaches to explore then look no further than Laguna Beach! Located between San Diego and LA, you’ll find miles and miles of unique and beautiful coastline to explore along Laguna beach. There’s going to be plenty of opportunity to lay by the beach, explore the tide pools and just take in the views.

Naples, Florida

The Gulf of Mexico is by far the warmest and sunniest ocean that you can swim in, in America. There are tons of secluded beaches and amazing snorkel  spots in Naples, Florida. You’ll love choosing Naples as one of the best beaches for your beach vacation in the U.S.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the Southern California beaches, head straight to Monterey! What I love about Monterey is that it’s quiet, artsy and full of vineyards. Not only are they home to the best aquarium and sea conservation in the US, but it’s also home to much quieter beaches than you’ll find in southern California.

Cape May, New Jersey

If we’re being perfectly honest, there are actually too many beaches to count on this island! Which means no matter what you’re after, you’ll find it here. If you’re living in New England or on the east coast, there’s no better place than Cape May to come for your next beach vacation in the US. This is one of the best beach vacations for families.

Nantucket, Massachusetts

Now of course, we had to include a beach for those of us who live in the middle of the country as well. It might not be the ocean but when you see Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore in Michigan you are going to LOVE it! Trust me when I tell you that this is simply one of the best beaches in the US.

Boca Chica, Texas

More beaches in Texas?! Yes please! I couldn’t complete the list of the best beach vacations without including Boca Chica. Imagine 8 miles of ideal sand just before you reach Mexico. This beach is perfect for those who just want to bring their picnic, books and friends to enjoy a day in the sun. It is absolutely one of my favorites. At Boca Chica they don’t have any services, which I actually love because that means it’s going to be much quieter. More likely filled with locals, making it my dream beach vacation.
