In this post I am going to be sharing 11 easy U.S. trips that are perfect for Spring! At the time of writing this post (MAY2021), international travel is still for the most part, limited (and expensive). But that doesn’t mean we can’t explore the U.S. right at home! It’s no secret that I love traveling. I mean, you do know you landed on a travel blog…
Oftentimes when I’m planning trips I look as far and as wide as possible, meaning that for the most part, I’m always leaving the U.S. to travel. If last year taught us anything though, it was that international travel might not always be available as an option for us! Which means it’s time to explore our own home! YUP. You saw it here first, 2021 is the year of travel within the U.S.
Alright so I know you might like to go somewhere outside of the U.S. this year, and that’s possible too. Just have a look at this helpful guide for all things travel this year. But this post is going to be less about that and more about hopping in the car to these amazing American destinations. These 11 U.S. trips are perfect for Spring! Which one will you tick off this year?

1. Chena Hot Springs, Alaska
Did you know that this is one of the best places in the entire world to view the Northern Lights in the Spring? Imagine sitting in a hot spring or drinking out of a hand crafted ice glass while the northern lights dance above you in the sky? Well, if that sounds like a dream come true then Chena Hot Springs in Alaska is the number one Spring trip that you need to take this year.
Chena Hot Springs has natural hot springs but you’ll find every comfort that you need at the Chena Hot Springs Resort, where you can take advantage of everything that beautiful Alaska has to offer. From scenic flights to gourmet and fresh cooked food, you’ll never want to leave this Spring destination.
2. Holland, Michigan
I’ll let you guess what this one has to offer…

Just like it’s namesake, Holland Michigan is home to beautiful tulip fields that color the fields every spring. Since travel to Holland might not be possible this Spring, you can always tick this U.S. lookalike off your list instead! As you wander through tulip fields it’ll be easy to forget that you’re in Michigan instead of the gorgeous Netherlands. Who knew that we had this in our own backyards?
3. Washington D.C.
There isn’t anywhere in the U.S. where you can view more beautiful Cherry Blossoms than in D.C. in the Spring. It’s one of my favorite things about the city. D.C. is the kind of city that comes alive in the Spring. The cold winter gets left behind and people can’t wait to flock to the blossoms and green spaces. If you’ve never been to D.C. then I highly recommend you take a trip this Spring, you won’t be disappointed.
4. Hawaii
Okay, honestly, Hawaii is a perfect destination for a trip any time during the year! But, I do think that spring in Hawaii is a particularly magical time thanks to the wildflowers blooming all over the islands. May is typically the best month to visit with fewer crowds as well which is another reason this is one of the top U.S trips perfect for spring.
5. Hill Country, Texas
Less of a single destination and more of a journey, Hill Country in Texas during the Spring shows you a bit of everything that Texas has to offer. Located between Houston and San Antonio, we used to make this trip when I was younger just to see the Bluebells in full swing. Trust me when I say it is GORGEOUS. Make sure to add Hill Country in Texas to your bucket list for Spring Travel this year.
There’s no better place in the world to see Bluebells! Add Hill Country, Texas to your Spring travel bucket list.

If you’re too late in the year for the Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. then you’re just in time for a trip up to Virginia to visit the Shenandoah National Park! This National Park comes alive in the Spring, filled with trees, blossoms and every color of the rainbow!
It’s a park that’s well known for its fall colors, but for Spring it flies more under the radar. You know what that means? That means you better get there before it’s discovered! Every year the park hosts a “wildflower weekend”. It’s scheduled to be May 9-10 and features guided hikes to some of its best flower-spotting sites. Even if you miss those dates though, it’s well worth a visit!
7. Santa Fe, New Mexico
If you’re looking for a U.S. trip that is perfect for Spring, then you are going to LOVE Santa Fe! Santa Fe is such a fun city, filled with art and culture. As the snow melts all around Oregon, the rivers and waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge are at their strongest! This means that you’ll be chasing waterfalls your whole trip.
